Hundreds of stories are written about DPP member companies every day. It can be difficult to keep up, but every so often, one catches my eye, especially when it mentions multiple members in one article.
Last week, it was announced that Argonon had acquired Nemorin Film & Video, in order to expand its branded content operations. All because they’re a passionate and experienced group of digital natives offering Argonon new and important expertise.
And also - I like to think - because of me, the DPP, and a little bit of serendipity.
I first met Pete Fergusson, Nemorin’s founder, at London’s Excel Centre in March 2018. But I wasn’t at a media event. And I certainly wasn’t looking for new DPP members.
I was at a B2B Marketing show looking for potential new suppliers. If I’m honest, most of the people I met were not that interesting (there are only so many versions of pull-up banners and promotional merchandise you can get excited about).
Nemorin were one of the few companies there doing something far more innovative.
They create branded video, advertiser-funded programming and social content for companies around the world, so I was drawn to them because, at the time, we were researching The Production Business.
Nemorin became one of 57 companies of all shapes and sizes, creating all different kinds of content, that contributed to that report, and they subsequently became DPP members in October 2018.
Fast forward 12 months to an exclusive Executive Dinner the DPP planned for Adobe on Creating Video at Scale.
We brought together senior leaders from companies such as: Jungle Creations, Hearst, Endemol Shine Digital, BuzzFeed, Warner Digital, Little Dot Studios, Refinery29 and more, including Argonon and Nemorin, to explore key topics for achieving success in a highly competitive video ecosystem, along with our special guest speaker Sabrina Rodriguez, Global Head of Digital Marketing, Dentsu Aegis Network.
Someone (ok, Anh), had the foresight to sit Graham Heyday, COO and Director of Content, Nemorin next to Argonon’s COO Laura Bessell, and the rest, as they say, is history.
On the new partnership Pete Fergusson says, "Digital is in our DNA and we’re delighted to join a world class global production group with a track record of creative and commercial success, who share both our appetite to embrace new opportunities and ambitions for growth. The deal offers an ideal platform to elevate Nemorin to the next level."
And Argonon CEO James Burstall commented, “The acquisition of digital business Nemorin is a strategic response to the rapidly changing entertainment ecology, powering our ambitions in branded entertainment, supercharging our focus in growth markets and generating opportunities to both maximise and develop IP."
It’s hugely gratifying to have played even a small part in enabling this exciting new creative partnership. Here at the DPP we work very hard to bring together customers and suppliers to solve problems and create opportunities. And sometimes those opportunities turn out to be bigger than we thought!
