The DPP has published a groundbreaking new report, Key Design Principles, which establishes the foundational components that will equip a company to succeed, even when the future is so unknown. The report was enabled by DPP member companies SDVI, Sony and Zixi.
Key Design Principles is the first in the DPP’s new Design for Tomorrow series of reports and webcasts. Design for Tomorrow draws on the insight of experts from across the DPP’s international membership to provide practical guidance for any organisation determined to build back better from the turmoil of 2020.
“It’s easy to talk in general terms about the need to do things differently,” says DPP CEO and author of the report, Mark Harrison, “but we have embraced the challenge of identifying exactly what this means. No company can be entirely future-proof, but this report provides a unique and razor-sharp checklist that will get you as close as possible.”
The report distills the input of around 50 industry experts, into just five key principles:
1 SAFE: A business culture that makes employees, customers and stakeholders feel safe
2 AVAILABLE: Teams have access to the systems, assets and people they need, wherever they are
3 FLEXIBLE: The business is able to respond rapidly to changing conditions and opportunities
4 INFORMED: An intelligent business is led by data
5 RELEVANT: Being at ease with the context in which you operate
Key Design Principles brings these principles to life by identifying what each means in practice, and what is required to make them real.
The DPP, and key contributors, will discuss these findings in a special webcast for DPP members on Thursday 27 August at 16.30 BST. The second report in this series will be Design for Tomorrow: Content Preparation - to be published in September 2020.
