The DPP are delighted that Humans Not Robots are co-enabling the Committed to Sustainability programme alongside long standing sponsor Red Bee Media.
The DPP Committed to Sustainability programme is an industry leading scheme celebrating and promoting good practice in environmental sustainability across the media industry.
Inaugurated in November 2019, more than 60 organisations now have the DPP Committed to Sustainability mark. By being part of the initiative, these companies are demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement when it comes to environmental sustainability. The programme helps them benchmark their progress, and provides a framework to ensure they are putting the management practices in place to be able to effectively monitor, manage and report on their sustainability work.
Kristan Bullett, CEO at Humans Not Robots says: “With sustainability at the core of our value proposition, Humans Not Robots have been supporters of the DPP’s Committed to Sustainability programme from our inception. We are proud to go a step further now by co-enabling the programme, which promotes good practice in environmental sustainability, across the media industry. More than ever, it is essential for any company to consider the environmental impact of their technical operations, something that the Humans Not Robots platform uniquely addresses. The solution analyses, at a very granular level, what is happening within media operations and then identifies optimisations and savings across those operations. By focusing on energy consumption, carbon footprint, cost and time we plan to reduce the environmental impact of video operations and video streaming by 30% over the next decade”
Chief Operations Officer at Red Bee Media, Dara Urquart says: “We are delighted to continue sponsoring the DPP Committed to Sustainability programme, which is reaching significant milestones and raising awareness and commitments, alongside Humans Not Robots. It is clear that sustainability is becoming a key consideration for media companies, and we are now seeing a growing commitment to make a tangible difference in our industry, as well as collaboration and partnership among companies working together to drive sustainability initiatives forward. There is power in numbers, and as the programme grows, we will continue to increase our positive impact. At Red Bee, we are signed up to our parent company's climate action programme. We are committed to supporting them in halving their carbon emissions by 2030, along with the publishing of our targets and progress. We work with our suppliers to provide guidance and support in helping them achieve these targets,”
The programme works by providing a practical tool to assess a company’s progress against key environmental measures, and a common framework for procurement teams to assess the environmental impact of their suppliers.
Once a company successfully completes the online Committed to Sustainability checklist, they will be given a sustainability score out of five, and awarded the DPP Committed to Sustainability mark.
