The DPP has today published a report summarising the findings from The DPP Leaders’ Briefing 2023, its flagship conference and networking event bringing together the supplier and content provided community.
At the Briefing, 37 senior executives from 31 major media organisations shared their three strategic priorities for the year ahead. The participating companies were:
A+E Networks, A+E Networks EMEA, Amazon Studios, Associated Press, BBC, BBC Studios, DAZN, GB News, IMG, ITN, ITV, ITV Studios, Mediacorp, Mediaset, NRK, PA Media, Peloton, RTE, RTL Deutschland, Sinclair, Sky, SVT, TikTok, Thomson Reuters, Tubi Media Group, TV2, The Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery, Yle, YouTube, and ZDF.
The keyword at the Leaders’ Briefing 2023 was AI, but the key theme was business effectiveness.
“The media industry is in a post-transformation phase,” says DPP CEO Mark Harrison. “Organisations know what they need to do - which is to optimise their operations to drive revenue or reach. Any new technology - such as generative AI - is just a tool to help achieve that goal.”
The industry leaders addressed themes such as the optimisation of their content, the role of data, and the need to equip their teams with the right, easy to use tools. All these priorities served the need to fine tune their operations to maximise value.
This clarity of purpose was accompanied by a similar clarity about the role of vendor partners. Customer organisations are looking for partnerships that can not only increase their efficiency but can also provide solutions that integrate easily with both old and new technology.
“This year’s Briefing saw customer organisations demonstrating considerable clarity about both their technology principles, and the business goals they are seeking to achieve,” adds Mark Harrison. “They are looking for vendor partners that will help them solve specific business problems, and really understand what it means to deliver value within that customer’s ecosystem.”
