The DPP has updated Recommendation DPP001 Live IP Profiles to version 1.1.
The document defines a number of profiles for the exchange of live content over IP networks, maximising interoperability between parties by limiting the number of different profiles in use. In this new version, it has undergone a series of important changes and improvements.
The implemented changes are outlined below:
- Additional profiles
UHD including immersive audio
Low and medium bitrate at non-PAL framerates, including AAC audio
Inclusion of Immersive Audio elementary streams in Media Profiles
Corrections to some of the existing profiles and levels
Improvements to Normative References
Editorial corrections
The Live IP Profiles project has been driven by a number of DPP member companies, including broadcasters, systems vendors, and streaming technology providers. They defined a range of use-cases based on their business needs, covering audio, SD and HD video, and some 4K cases. They then developed recommended media coding and streaming profiles, covering transport stream technology across various network types.
The scenarios considered included contribution of live video to broadcast centres, and distribution of live video to DTT, DSAT, and OTT delivery platforms.
