The DPP has announced that 50 media companies have officially joined its industry leading DPP Committed to Sustainability programme.
The scheme, enabled by DPP members Atos and Red Bee Media, was first launched at the DPP Technology Leaders’ Briefing in 2019 and was set up to celebrate and promote good practice in environmental sustainability across the media industry.
It entails an assessment of a company’s progress against key environmental measures, and provides a common framework for procurement teams to assess the environmental impact of their suppliers.
A company is awarded the DPP Committed to Sustainability mark and given a sustainability score out of five once they complete the online Committed to Sustainability checklist.
“As businesses are required to become more environmentally sustainable, I’m delighted to have reached this important milestone,” says Abdul Hakim, the DPP Committed to Sustainability lead. “It’s a great start for our industry but there’s still a long way to go. I’m looking forward to supporting more organisations with their sustainability journey.”
"As the sponsor of DPP Committed to Sustainability programme, we are delighted to have reached its key milestone, with now 50 organisations across the media industry taking part to promote and demonstrate good practice in environmental sustainability," says Alexandra Knupe, Head of Group CSR, Atos. "As a leader in decarbonised digital, Atos will continue to help organisations better understand their challenges and implement the policies needed to shift towards a more green society through the programme."
“As a main sponsor we are delighted to see the DPP Committed to Sustainability programme reach this milestone and welcome its 50th company,” says Edward Odevall, CFO Red Bee. “Sustainability is becoming a key consideration for media companies, and we see a growing commitment to make a tangible difference in our industry. There is power in numbers and as the programme grows we will continue to increase our positive impact.”
